The Organization for the Review of Care and Health Apps

Delivering safe digital health

Digital health brings new possibilities to grow, transform and innovate. The right digital health decisions will help achieve your goal, be it to reduce readmissions, increase staffing productivity or improve patient satisfaction.

But the wrong technology decision can bring significant risk to IT security, patient safety and governance. And, in a field of thousands of products, ever changing regulations, avoiding this takes time and expertise.

Organizations around the world choose to partner with the Organization for the Review of Care and Health Apps (ORCHA) to safely access the opportunities digital health offers. Our turnkey end-to-end system helps organizations to safely and successfully achieve deliver safe digital health.

Safer Digital Health

Healthcare is in the middle of a digital revolution, yet the digital health market is unregulated and only 20% of products meet quality standards.

Watch our 2 minute video to discover why healthcare associations, including the ACP and ATA, are introducing digital health frameworks. Also learn how our end-to-end technology allows us to find and review digital health technology, enabling us to build safe, compliant and trusted digital health libraries for healthcare organizations, which today hold 17,000 assessed products for health and care professionals to accurately prescribe to patients.

Digital Health Assessment Framework

In a field of 365,000 digital products, where the vast majority fall outside of existing regulations, such as the medical device regulations, federal laws and government guidance, there has been no clear way to determine if a product is safe to use. This is stopping the national adoption of digital health, particularly in the fields of condition management, clinical risk assessment and decision support.

The Digital Health Assessment Framework (DHAF) is a U.S. framework for assessing digital health technologies, including mobile apps and web-based tools used by healthcare providers and consumers, led by The American College of Physicians (ACP), the American Telemedicine Association (ATA) and ORCHA!
The DHAF is intended to be an open framework, accessible for anyone to use, to support the adoption of high-quality digital health technologies and help healthcare professionals and patients make better-informed decisions about which digital health tools best suit their needs. The Framework includes components to assess privacy and security, clinical assurance and safety, and usability, and was crafted to support U.S.-specific guidelines, regulations and best practices for digital health technologies.
